Action assisted 59 collectors from the Central Tietê and Vitória do Belém Recycling Cooperatives, partners of Prolata
Prolata, in partnership with IRAPA (Institute of Reference and Support for Assistance Projects in Brazil) and the Verter Institute, carried out an eye care action for collectors from Recycling Cooperatives in the east zone of São Paulo. Eye exams were carried out and glasses were donated, with lenses and frames, to collectors from the Central Tietê cooperative, in the Tatuapé neighborhood, and Vitória do Belém, in the Belenzinho neighborhood. Both cooperatives are partners of the Prolata association.
From the Central Tietê cooperative, 47 collectors underwent the eye exam and 27 needed to wear glasses. In Vitória de Belém, of the 12 examined, 3 discovered vision problems.
The director of Prolata, Thais Fagury, demonstrates great satisfaction with the results of the action. “For us, it is very gratifying to be able to contribute to the quality of life of these people, benefiting visual health”. Thais also points out that the work of the collectors is essential for the environment and further strengthens the reverse logistics system.
The exams were carried out on October 22nd and the glasses were delivered on November 8th.
