In one year, delivery points for empty paint cans in Baixada Santista are already an important alternative

On June 29 of last year, the first voluntary delivery point (PEV) of Prolata post-consumer paint cans was inaugurated in Baixada Santista. After a year, many results can be celebrated.

From the pioneering installation in a Baratão das Tintas store in Santos, eight other points were opened, providing consumers and painters in the region with a great alternative to correctly dispose of their packaging. So much so that, in this first year of operation, many hundreds of paint cans have already been collected, whose total weight exceeded 330 kg.

In addition to Santos, today there are PEVs in Guarujá, São Vicente and Itanhaém, with new units scheduled in other municipalities on the south coast of São Paulo (Bertioga, Cubatão, Mongaguá, Peruíbe and Praia Grande) until the end of 2021.

These locations form part of the actions carried out by Prolata in the Region, based on the Environmental Cooperation Agreement signed between Abeaço, ABRAFATI, Artesp and the Special Action Group for the Environment (GAEMA), of the Public Ministry of São Paulo. They also represent an important advance in the work aimed at complying with the National Solid Waste Policy, based on the concept of shared responsibility established in this legislation.
